Nursery Feature | Literary Chic

I have to admit…when I started doing these nursery features I was doing them for myself…because it was something that I enjoyed and thought would be fun to do.  Well I haven’t gotten too far into the project, but have already gotten a great response from the posts!  When I started these I assumed that the posts would fall on deaf ears and that I’d be the only one looking at the photos of each unique, adorable nursery…but I’ve had a lot of people asking when my next nursery feature is going to be.  So, after a little break last month from photographing a nursery…I’m back at it for September with this adorable nursery for Miss Hadley!  As you can see from all of the books throughout the room…Hadley has some educators for parents!  Mom is a teacher and dad is a principal.  As you’d expect from two parents that are in education, Hadley has no shortage of books to read!  I just love the school house theme of this room…from the re-purposed school desk to the bell and map…it’s just perfect!

If you know of someone who may like to have their nursery photographed and featured on our blog, please send them my way…I’m always on the hunt for my next nursery!  stehvntesarphotography@gmail.com

Mom made this quilt especially for Hadley…along with some help from grandma!  Grandma was also responsible for the crib skirt and curtains…love the pattern!  Since crib bumpers are out these days they made sure to incorporate some color and fun with the patterned skirt.

The scrabble letters for her name were a DIY project…I swore they had to have purchased them, but she insists that they made each one themselves!  Dad sanded and painted while mom carefully used a sharpie paint pen for the letters.

I love this mobile (from Pottery Barn Kids)!

This map was also a DIY project using scrapbook paper and if you ask me it turned out perfectly!  The states are on a pin board so that later on they can add pins when Hadley travels…for now it’s a cute decoration.  Mom framed this school bell to match the map…a fun find at Graples!

I love how even the light fixture ties in so well with the rustic lined baskets that they have for storage throughout the room and the letters go perfectly with the school theme!  This fixture was from a local home decor store, The Nest.

I just love how she re-purposed this old school desk for a side table…I’m sure it’ll come in handy when they are spending plenty of time in this chair for late night feedings!  This school desk was actually a gift like the Personalized LEGO Minifigures from dad to mom before they were even married!  He knew that she loves to collect antique school items and this fit the bill perfectly!

…and…of course, here is the other half of the essential equipment for the all night feedings…the rocker!  This was another great Craigslist find by dad!  He made sure to clean it up so well that you can’t even tell it was pre-owned!

Who says that Pinterest is a waste of time?!  This book display proves that all of those hours pinning nursery ideas paid off!  The flat, ledge style book shelves (another handy project by dad) not only take up a lot less space than a traditional book shelf, but they also make a nice display out of the books!  Later on when Hadley is able to pick out her own books she’ll be able to see the covers of the books and choose that way!

If I’m not mistaken…I’d say that Hadley is giving her room a thumbs up in one of her first photos!  I hope they keep this one for always!

This chalkboard was another find from Graples and was a gift from grandma.  They were surprised to find that it wasn’t actually a chalkboard…just painted black.  Nothing a little chalkboard spray can’t fix, though!  Now they can message away on this little guy!

This ruler is going to be so awesome to watch Hadley grow over the years!  I love how it’s neutral enough that it can follow her as she moves rooms and grows!  This was another DIY project that they did along with the scrabble letters.

It always amazes me at how many little things you need for a baby!  These baskets from World Market will be perfect for holding all of those little things!!

And yes…I have been humming My Girl all afternoon because of this adorable sign on the chalkboard!
