Welcome! We are thrilled to welcome your expanding family to ours! We are honored to be documenting your little one’s very first portraits; these are the images that will be treasured for years to come and will beautifully chronicle your family’s history.
Whether we are at your home or our in-home studio we will no doubt ask for your baby soon after meeting you. WE will work to get acquainted and familiar and we’ll plan our session based on your goals for your images. But whatever we do, you’ll be right beside us, ensuring that one of us has a hand near your baby at all times because safety is of primary importance.
We understand there are many options out there at many different price points and many different styles. Hopefully you selected Tesar Photography because of the images you have viewed in our portfolio. This welcome kit should provide you with a full overview of what you can expect from your session with Tesar Photography. We look forward to working with you!

PREPPING FOR YOUR SESSION
- If nursing, try to avoid eating anything spicy that might upset baby’s tummy for 24 hours preceding your schedule session.
- Interact with and keep baby awake for 1-2 hours before your session to ensure he/she is good and sleepy for the session. Also, the baby needs to be fed as much as possible during the 12 hours that precedes the session, allowing baby to sleep as deeply and long as possible.
- Please make sure your little one has a full belly for the session. Please feed your baby just before you leave for the studio or just before your scheduled session time at your home. If baby is formula fed please bring extra formula and bottles.
- Dress baby in loose fitting clothes to avoid any lines on the skin — a simple sleeper is best. Please avoid onesies or anything we have to pull off over the baby’s head.
- Bring a pacifier — they can be very helpful during the session.
- The studio will be kept at 78-80 degrees to keep your little one warm while in their birthday suit, so I recommend that parents dress in layers so that you can remove some if you get too warm. If our session is to take place at your home it would help if you could warm the space up a bit before we start.
- During the session sit back and relax. I won’t need much assistance, so take advantage of this time to rest. Feel free to bring your laptop to catch up on some work, work on thank you notes…or just take a NAP!
- When you arrive please leave baby in their car seat when bringing him/her into the studio.
- I have props/swaddles/etc that will be used for the session. If there is something special you’d like included in the photos please have it ready!

FAMILY MEMBERS
If mom or dad would like to participate in the photos, please let me know prior to the session. A white/cream short sleeve shirt is suggested for Dad and a white/cream tank or blouse top for mom (fitted tops tend to photograph best for both). If Dad is comfortable bearing his chest for a few photos this can make for some very tender images.
If you have older siblings that you would like photographed with your newborn we will do these shots first. Cream, ivory or white is recommended for older siblings (tops with jeans or dresses for girls). Due to the natue of the session, we ask that your spouse/partner take the older siblings home or out for something fun to do white we finish up with the individual newborn shots.
If there are any special items you would like photographed with baby please bring them along. If you have preferences on colors to use or not to use please let me know ahead of time as I will have all props selected and ready to go upon your arrival at the studio.
Seating is limited in the studio, so I recommend bringing no more than yourself, your spouse/partner, and one guest if necessary.
If we are shooting at your home, please let me know ahead of time if you’d like family shots to be photographed with a plain backdrop (or ‘studio style’) or in your home setting (or ‘lifestyle’). Examples of both are shown below.
