Baptism

Finley’s baptism was led by Deacon Jerry Pera at Holy Apostles Catholic Church.  Traditionally, baptisms are not performed in the church during Lent, but since there is nothing in Canon law that states that they cannot be performed, Deacon Pera agreed to make an exception for Finley since this is the only time that both of her god parents (Pete and Teresa) will be in town.  It was a small, private ceremony at the church.  The baptism was attended by Stehvn, Kelly, Pete, Teresa, Doug, Darlene, Adie Bartron, and Jeff, Shanan, Tim, & Grace Brackus.  Finley performed perfectly for the baptism!  She was happy and content throughout the entire process…looking at Deacon Pera with her big, intent eyes all the while he was talking!  No tears or fussing when the water was poured on her head even though it had cooled down and was a little cold by the time it was poured over her head.

After the baptism, we went back to Grandma Darlene & Grandpa Doug’s house for cake & ice cream and a little celebration.  Everyone stayed around long enough that cake & ice cream soon turned into dinner (BBQ from Bodacious Pig’s) and a full day event.  It was a gorgeous day and a great way to celebrate for Finley!
