We met grammy at the fair for a hot and fun Friday afternoon! I swear it always feels 10-15 degrees warmer at the fair than it actually is! The plan was to eat lunch and then move onto animals and rides…which we were yet again reminded that this was a bad idea. No way will she sit and eat when there are other things she could be doing! So after getting a few fries in her belly and a packet of fry sauce (that she ate with a fork) we moved over to the petting zoo. Of course she went nuts in there petting everything…feeding them ‘snacks’…and asking to ride all of the bigger ones. She stuck her head in to reach the yak and he nailed her in the forehead with his horn before I had a chance to pull her out. Didn’t hurt her but I’m sure we will be hearing about it for a while!
After we made it through the petting zoo and she got a visual on the rides we were off! Got tickets for the rides and started off with the kiddie train…which ended up being a little slow and dull for her taste. Then onto the ferris wheel which was fun because she got to go up high! Once we were stopped at the top she told me we were stuck and yelled AGAIN! She did a few more kiddie rides (boats: loved ringing the bell, ATV ride: moved faster so she liked that, Trucks: saw Mater so she loved those) and lastly went to the merry go round. In hind sight we should have started with that and moved onto the smaller rides because it was TRAUMATIC to have to get off the merry go round! We tried to distract by going to get an ice…but that only worked for 1 minute and back to crying. Then we got cotton candy…and things still weren’t going much better. I’m sure she was starving, thirsty, and HOT…but couldn’t be bothered to stop to eat or drink with so many other things going on, so we decided it was probably time to pack up and head home. I think she had a good time! We will remember for next year to eat BEFORE we go and start with the big, fun rides first!
