This was our splurge for the nursery. And I’m so glad for it. We chose the Graham glider based on looks (at the time it was only available in this dove gray color, but is now available in a variety of materials and colors), comfort, and size (large enough for my 6’6″ husband). I found the straight back helpful when I was getting the hang of breastfeeding and the width is perfect.
For me, it was more comfortable to breastfeed when I could get my knees up a bit for support. It’s still more comfortable for me to feed her with my feet propped up on our pouf.
We decided to save some money here by buying used. If you have the budget for an expensive crib, go for it! But there are other ways to spend the money in my opinion!
…and waterproof mattress pads. 2-3 of each is enough unless you don’t have easy access to laundry.
I think these were one of my top purchases for the nursery. I used two sets of the Ikea organizers for our Hemnes dresser. Big ones are perfect for organizing diapers in drawers and the smaller ones are great for medicines, baby care items, burp rags, etc.
In Finley’s nursery I hung her clothes in her closet and used the dresser for organizing all of the ‘others’. Top drawer was for diapers, butt paste, medicines, lotion, etc. Second drawer was for blankets, swaddlers, and burp rags. Bottom drawer was for the bigger ‘extras’. Diaper pail refills, wipe refills, more diapers, etc.
You don’t need to buy furniture just for changing diapers. Don’t waste your money on a changing table. Just put this guy on top of a dresser and continue to use the dresser for years to come. I’m a rebel and cut the ‘seatbelt’ off of our changing pad. There are lots of tutorials online for making a cover for the pad…buy some fabric and get creative!
…or any other white noise machine. Seriously awesome.
This isn’t a must. But if you’re too lazy to take the garbage out regularly (like me), it is.
The air in Idaho is always dry…and particularly in the winter. The humidifier was an absolute must for our winter baby! Especially when her nose was gunked up during cold/flu season (thank you, day care!).
Other handy nursery items:

lamp(s) for softer light while getting ready for bed
nightlight (we use the hall light instead)
small decorative bowl on side table to catch extra pacifiers, gas drops, etc.
baskets for organizing small baby clothing (socks, pants, headbands, hats, etc)
Bins or baskets for toys
