Earlier this week I asked Finley what she thought we would see at the circus…clowns? She said no probably not, but maybe penguins and possibly raccoons. So I told her that I thought she might be a bit confused about what is at the circus since she has never been before. So…as soon as we got home she got out her old Bubble Guppies DVD so that she could watch the episode that is all about the circus! So this weekend the circus came to town…we showed up and found seats…and they delayed the start of the show for a half hour…which meant that we had sat for too long before the show even started! We only lasted to intermission (and that’s only after moving to the very top seats so that we could sit alone)…but they both got the experience of going to the circus.
Finley’s highlight was the trapeze (clearly). After each stunt she would jump up and start to walk down the stairs saying ‘ok, my turn!’ I kept pulling her back to her seat. Well…after the trapeze artist missed a particularly hard stunt the ringleader asked the crowd to cheer for them so that they would try again. She put her hand to her chest and gasped ‘Mommy, they cheer for me. It’s my turn.’ Either she truly believed that everyone was cheering for her to join the trapeze artists or she was that good at selling the point to me…either way is a little disturbing. I was dying laughing. Both girls promptly fell asleep when we got to the car…which was the true sign of success.
